Bad "Bad Acting": The group's zombie imitation during the Pretend We're Dead scene is very amateurish but gets the job done. Shaun is 29 years old, and at the film's climax, the group only has 29 bullets to hold off the zombies with. Astonishingly Appropriate Interruption: Used a few times, once by Ed and another using the TV. Either way, the two of them end up turning into zombies by the end of the film. The former's dickish attitude was largely provoked rather than generally part of his character, while the latter is still fairly likable despite his vulgarity. 
Reportedly, test audiences actually cheered when the zombies disembowel him.
David was indifferent towards Shaun being forced to kill his zombified mother, tries to kill Shaun when he rightfully retaliates, and is just a general asshole. He appears in his shop as a zombie at the outbreak, but Shaun doesn't notice him in the back. Appeal to Obscurity: When Shaun claims that Ed can be funny sometimes, Pete acknowledges one time. Shaun (First iteration): I'm so sorry, Phillip. Played for laughs when Shaun and Ed are planning how to rescue their friends and families. Shaun apologizes to his zombified mother when he prepares a mercy kill: "Sorry, mum.". And Then John Was a Zombie: Ed gets turned into a zomb.er. Liz has a copy of Sade's Diamond Life, which gets chucked. He and Ed drunkenly sing Duran Duran's "White Lines". Among Shaun's vinyl records that they use to attack the zombies are New Order (he gets upset that an original pressing of "Blue Monday" gets chucked), Dire Straits ( Brothers in Arms gets chucked without hesitation), Prince (he keeps Purple Rain and Sign '☮' the Times, but chucks Batman (1989)) and The Stone Roses (he keeps both their albums, even defending Second Coming). 
Alternate Character Interpretation: invoked Invoked in-universe, as Shaun and Ed make up stories about the barflies, casting them in roles like mobsters and ex-prostitutes. 
Also, Mary, the zombie girl in the garden, has her own back-story which was published in 2000AD as a tie-in. The movie's got a great plot, brilliant and funny characters, a great love interest, bloody and gory fight scenes, the dialogue is honestly great and so is the acting from all the cast, it's honestly worth the watch. Overall, Shaun Of The Dead is honestly a masterpiece and a half. Also, the love interest which Shaun has got for Liz (Kate Ashfield) is built up very well and it's honestly great. Finally, the movie's got some very cleverly done fight scenes but oh my god, they're very brutal, very gory and very bloody but they're amazingly well done. The chemistry which Shaun and Ed have throughout this movie is honestly great, it's nicely displayed when they're either murdering a bunch of zombies together or just having some banter together in a pub, either way the two of them have got some great chemistry with each other throughout this movie. The other characters throughout this movie are also great especially Ed (Nick Frost) he's a very hilarious character from start to finish and so is Shaun throughout this movie. Also, throughout this movie we get to see the character of Shaun change from how he once was and it's done so well. It's about this man called Shaun (Simon Pegg) we can tell from the start of this movie he's not a very brave character and he get's talked over a lot but that later changes when the zombies start to appear. Shaun Of The Dead is honestly a masterpiece and a half, the plot is honestly great.
